Burns Waterway Flood of
2008 Documentary
"Step
back into time..into the history changing era of the Burns Waterway Flood of 2008.
This documentary DVD was creatively designed by Photo
Journalist, Karen Goad, to visually and emotionally, pull you into the history
and flood and aftermath drama of the boating community along the Burns Waterway
in Portage, Indiana"
Travel through time....from the tranquil communities, history changing weather
conditions... through the turmoil of the 10' rising water current flowing 18
knots down the waterway, ripping boats from their docks, dismantling docks and
weekend cottages...eroding the banks, leaving trees hanging on to life by mere
root balls... to aftermath photos...from semi-emerged boats , boats left on top
of finger piers...to the boats washed along the rocks on the break wall...along
with docks, branches, trees, life jackets and massive debris..literally being
broken into pieces by the rage of the northern winds and waves... the daring and
laborious boat recovery process....to the hope of someday returning to the place
of summer fun and camaraderie ."
